3 Ways Exercise Makes You Feel Better

When we talk about the benefits of exercise, looking better gets the most attention.

Burning off unwanted pounds is a great but let’s not overlook a more immediate benefit of exercise.

Exercise transforms how you feel — with a quickness.

It’s true. While weight loss takes time, all it takes is one workout to begin reaping the reward of a more energetic and capable body.

Here are the top 3 ways that your body will feel better with exercise:

1) You’ll Have More Energy
How are your energy levels these days? (We’re talking about natural energy, not energy manufactured by caffeine.)

Do your eyes pop open at the sound of your alarm? Then do you bounce through your day with a spring in your step? Or do you hit snooze half a dozen times before getting up and dragging through your day?

While you may not instantly feel like the Energizer Bunny, your energy levels will dramatically increase once you begin a consistent, challenging exercise routine.

3) You’ll Feel Happy and Confident
A short while ago we had a lady come to us who wanted to lose weight, get in shape and feel better. She has been quite ill over the past few years and just wanted to get back into things; she wasn’t happy at all with herself. She was very nervous & shy and would barely speak to anyone else.
Now, it’s like a different person walks through our door when she comes in to train. She walks tall, smiles and talks to everyone and has fun. She sees herself making progress and feels good about it.

It’s often hard to understand how 30 to 60 minutes a day spent on exercise is able to completely transform how you feel about yourself. But it does. Think back to the last time that you accomplished something. Maybe you performed well at work and received kudos from your boss or you finished a project at home that took weeks of your time and concentration. Do you remember how that accomplishment made you feel? You stood a little bit straighter, you smiled easily, and deep down you felt alive with excitement.

It’s all about Community

Another great couple of classes to kick start the week.

We welcomed a few new people to the core conditioning class as well as a full house for the kettlebell class. Neither class was a walk in the park but everyone stepped up and pushed themselves. Well done guys.

It got me thinking as to why classes are so effective and why people enjoy them so much.

The penny dropped……it’s all about the community and support.

Watching our clients before, during & after each class I realised that many of them had only met once or twice, yet they’re we’re happily chatting away like old friends. Conversations about the status of the kitchen makeover and how the weekend away was were all being batted about. I actually felt bad about interrupting them to start the class!

We’ve all done it, we want to go a class or the gym but feel a bit silly & intimidated or just not confident about what you’re doing.

Not so with classes. One of the keys to success with exercise & nutrition is having support and where better to find that than in a class setting. Let’s face it everyone is there for the same reason whether that be weight-loss, shaping up or being fitter. There is something so positive in the camaraderie of not doing it alone. All of a sudden you find that you’re not the only person that feels a silly, is not sure what they’re doing or has come a sticking point in achieving their goal. You find other people that you can bounce ideas off, have fun with and even provide some healthy competition!

The bonus to this community is that suddenly exercise becomes fun and you want to do it. You even find that you start to achieve you goals all because of the community & support.

If you think you can’t afford a personal trainer try this

Many people are put off by the thought of taking on a personal trainer because they believe it will be a big financial outlay for them. That isn’t the case with our personal training services because we run our own studio/gym, which means we can offer a range of different packages and services for you as an individual but also in small groups.

Home workout and personal trainer offer

For the first few months of 2012 we are offering a new program for anyone looking to improve their fitness and lose weight/burn fat.  You can watch the video below – basically we are giving you a chance to enjoy the expertise of a personal trainer at a lower cost. We will put together a workout program for you that you will then perform at home three times a week.

Every Saturday you will come into our personal training studio at 292 Battersea Park Road SW11 to workout with a personal trainer and we will take you through a basic assessment with the BodyMetrix system or the functional  measurement system.

What’s your motivation to get fit?

motivation to exerciseAs international fitness week draws to an end it is time to answer a very important question – what’s your motivation to get fit?   Unless you know what your motivation is – what your WHY is – you will find it hard to stay focused and to keep exercising once this week is over.

When you know your WHY – and you are clear about why you want to exercise and get fit you can call on that whenever you don’t want to hit the gym or you really want to eat another slice of cake.

Here are some “WHYs” that motivate people to focus on their fitness

Health

Unfortunately many people wait until something major happens or a serious illness occurs before they begin to focus on their health and fitness. It is one of the biggest WHYs to motivate people to exercise but NOT one we recommend. Prevention is always better than cure!

Holiday

Is your holiday coming up in the next 5-6 months? Now is the time to get into a fitness regime because by the time your holiday is over you will feel so amazing that you will want to keep your new exercise habit going.

Marriage

Getting married and wanting to lose weight before a wedding is another big WHY for people either because they are the bridge/groom or the bridesmaids.

Starting Over

Just got divorced? Broken up from a long term relationship? Starting over after a relationship usually encourages people to start thinking about their weight and fitness. They want to look great as they start dating again and this can be a really big motivation for people.

New Relationship

When people first enter a relationship with someone anxieties about their body can creep up and in an effort to look great they will start thinking about weight loss and getting fit.

For Charity

Sponsored bike rides, walks and runs encourage people to train before hand to improve their fitness and it is recommended that if you are going to take on raising money for charity this way that you do put together a plan of exercise for yourself.

This is the greatest gift you can give yourself because without health you really don’t have quality of life.

Weight loss for your wedding day

Are you getting married this summer? It’s March and if you are getting married anytime between June – September now is the time to think about weight loss for your wedding day. Most bridges want to look amazing in their dress and you will find it easier to stay motivated if you workout with the groom and your brides maids too – make it a group affair and book yourself on 6-12 of our group personal training sessions to really see amazing results.

Planning a wedding takes a lot of energy from both bride and groom and you want to ensure you enjoy every minute of your special day without letting the stress and pressure get to you. The day before will be one of the most exciting times of your life and you probably won’t get much sleep – then it’s up early and a whole day of getting ready, going through the ceremony, photos, food, cake cutting and guest welcoming as well as just enjoying the music and plenty of alcohol as you celebrate.
