Recent research has been put together in America that shows a direct link between being happy and living a long life. They discovered what they call “subjective well-being” – e.g. not being stressed out or depressed and feeling positive about life – plays a role in how long we live and our overall health and we have found that using fitness to help you stay happy really helps.
Everyone knows and agrees that exercise works to help you lose weight and to improve the strength, flexibility and tone of your body. What many people over look is the fact that it also makes us happy because regular exercise has been known to produce endorphins which are a hormone that acts as a natural “drug” produced by your own body that helps you to feel great. This is one of the reasons why when you do execise regularly you are compelled to keep doing it because you want to feel that natural high, and also why when you take a few weeks or months off you can begin to feel down and a little moody.
There are loads of ways to help yourself feel happy
- Go for a walk
- Meet up with friends
- Enjoy a relaxing bath
- Watch your favourite comedy
They are all great but using fitness to help you stay happy means you are not only feeling great, but you look great too thanks to the exercise. This isn’t something I can write about to help you “feel” it is more something you have to experience for yourself so I want to encourage you to get in touch with us about adopting a regular exercise routine.
