It always makes me laugh when someone gets in touch about using our personal training services around this time of year (end of November) and they say things like “I really want to do this but will wait until after Christmas!”
My question to them is “why wait?”
If you are hoping to stuff yourself with food and then start exercising in January you might want to take a look at the logic behind that. Isn’t it better to get a few weeks of exercise in BEFORE Christmas and learn how to modify your eating habits NOW so you don’t end up over eating and feeling rotten!
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas and I love an excuse to enjoy good food and great company but I won’t do it at the expense of my body. I think we sometimes believe we are invincible and nothing can harm us, until a major scare shows you just how vulnerable the human body really is. While your body is very forgiving and will forgive the over eating you do (and not just at Christmas!) there is only so much it can take and the last thing you want to do is push it to its limit. Yes, it can often be possible to repair the damage but isn’t prevention always far better than cure
